Arrested Protesters Development
If you missed being pinned down by Foxy Brown, but got netted by the cops instead during this convention season - there is help out there. We got an e-mail from Noah Budnick From Transportation Alternatives with info for the National Lawyers Guild’s New York City RNC Mass Defense Committee, and other helpful bits. Have I mentioned how everyone should be a member of TA and ride in their NYC Century? I thought I might have.

David Rankin, drankinn@yahoo.com, with the National Lawyers Guild’s New York City RNC Mass Defense Committee is the best person to contact for people who were arrested during Critical Mass or other RNC-related protests. He can either help or direct people to someone at the National Lawyers Guild who can. Here’s the contact information for the National Lawyers Guild’s New York City RNC Mass Defense Committee: http://www.nlgnyc.org/RNC.html Mass Defense Committee National Lawyers Guild NYC Chapter 143 Madison Avenue, 4th Floor New York, NY 10016 (212) 679-6018 (212) 679-6178 (fax) nycmassdefense@riseup.net Here are two good resources for how to get your bike, or other property, back if it was seized by the NYPD: http://www.nlgnyc.org/bikefaq.html http://www.beeduul.com/bike/ If anyone was arrested who was biking and NOT taking part in a protest, they should contact me, bike@transalt.org. T.A. is trying to ascertain if the NYPD is cracking down on all bicyclists or just those that they perceive as being involved with a protest... Best, Noah
